**Captain Feed for YouTube** is a powerful and easy-to-use WordPress plugin that
lets you display YouTube videos and content directly on your WordPress website.
Create beautiful, responsive, and customizable YouTube feeds for channels, playlists,
Shorts, search results, and individual videos without writing any code.

Whether you are a content creator, blogger, business owner, agency, marketer, or
website developer, Captain Feed for YouTube makes it easy to showcase your YouTube
content and keep your website visitors connected with your latest videos.

**📺 Create Different Types of YouTube Feeds**

Choose the feed type that best fits your website:

 * **YouTube Channel Feed** : Display recent videos from any YouTube channel using
   a Channel ID or @handle.
 * **YouTube Playlist Feed** : Display videos from any public YouTube playlist.
 * **YouTube Shorts Feed** : Showcase vertical YouTube Shorts in a responsive 9:
   16 layout.
 * **Individual Video Feed** : Display specific YouTube videos that you want to
   feature on your website.
 * **Embed Video** : Paste a single YouTube video URL and embed it instantly – no
   YouTube API key required.
 * **YouTube Search Feed** : Automatically display videos based on a YouTube search
   query.
 * **YouTube Channel Profile** : Display a complete channel profile with the channel
banner, avatar, channel name, subscriber count, video count, view count, and
   Subscribe button.

**🎨 Flexible Layouts & Display Options**

Customize the appearance of your YouTube feeds to match your website design. Choose
from multiple layout options such as Grid, List, Cards, and Carousel, and control
the number of videos, columns, and other display settings.

Create different feeds for different pages or sections of your website and customize
each feed independently.

**🔌 Elementor & Gutenberg Integration**

Captain Feed for YouTube works smoothly with Elementor and the WordPress block editor(
Gutenberg). Add the “Captain YouTube Feed” widget in Elementor or the “Captain YouTube
Feed” block in Gutenberg, pick a feed from the dropdown, and it loads right in the
editor with the same layout and styles as on the live site.

Elementor is optional. You can also use the plugin with any modern WordPress theme
using the generated shortcode.

**🎛️ Full Control Over Every Feed**

 * **Video Play Mode** : Open videos on YouTube, in a popup lightbox, or play them
   inline on the page.
 * **Video Filters** : Include or exclude videos by keyword, and hide videos below
a minimum duration or view count.
 * **Load More** : Show a few videos first and load more with a button.
 * **Styles** : Card background, borders, shadows, colors and typography for titles,
descriptions and stats – with a Live Preview on desktop, tablet and mobile.

**⚡ Performance Optimized**

The plugin includes built-in API response caching using WordPress transients. Cached
YouTube data helps reduce unnecessary API requests, minimize YouTube API quota usage,
and improve frontend loading performance. The optional Fallback Table keeps the
last good YouTube data, so your feeds keep working even if the API quota runs out
or a request fails.

You can create and display your feeds without making repeated API requests for every
page view.

**📱 Fully Responsive YouTube Feeds**

Your YouTube feeds are designed to work across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Create responsive layouts that automatically adapt to different screen sizes and
provide a better viewing experience for your visitors.

YouTube Shorts can also be displayed using a dedicated vertical 9:16 layout designed
for short-form video content.

**🔍 YouTube Search Feeds**

Use the YouTube Search Feed to display videos based on a specific search query.
This makes it easy to create dynamic video sections around topics, keywords, brands,
or other content you want to showcase.

**🎬 Showcase Individual Videos**

Have specific videos you want to promote? Use the Individual Video feed to display
selected videos directly on your website. This is useful for featured videos, tutorials,
announcements, product videos, interviews, and other important content.

**📖 Built-in Documentation**

The plugin includes a built-in Documentation section with a plugin overview video
and guides for feed types, customizing your feed, the YouTube Data API, Channel
IDs, YouTube @Handles, Playlist IDs, Shorts, caching settings, AI assistants (MCP)
and White Label.

You do not need to search through external documentation to understand the basic
setup process.

**🔑 YouTube Data API Integration**

Captain Feed for YouTube uses the official YouTube Data API v3 provided by Google
to retrieve YouTube content. You can configure your YouTube API key from the plugin
settings and use it to create and manage your feeds.

**🔁 Version Rollback**

The built-in Rollback feature allows you to restore a previous plugin version directly
from the WordPress admin dashboard when needed. This provides an easy way to return
to an earlier version without manually uploading plugin files.

**🧩 No Coding Required**

Create and customize YouTube feeds through the WordPress admin dashboard. Once your
feed is configured, simply use the generated shortcode to display it anywhere on
your website.

**🤖 MCP / AI Assistant Integration**

Captain Feed for YouTube can register itself with WordPress’s core Abilities API(
WordPress 6.9+), so AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT can create,
list, update, duplicate, delete, and diagnose your YouTube feeds through natural
language – via any MCP bridge plugin (such as Easy MCP AI or the official WordPress
MCP Adapter). This is entirely optional: on WordPress versions before 6.9, or without
an MCP bridge plugin installed, the rest of the plugin works exactly the same. Every
AI ability can be individually switched on or off from the plugin’s MCP page, and
is restricted to users with the “manage_options” capability.

**Perfect for:**

 * YouTube creators who want to showcase their latest videos
 * Businesses displaying product videos and video content
 * Bloggers embedding related YouTube content
 * Agencies building custom video sections for clients
 * Marketers promoting YouTube channels and campaigns
 * Educational websites displaying tutorials and courses
 * Websites showcasing YouTube Shorts and video collections

With flexible feed types, responsive layouts, Elementor integration, API caching,
built-in documentation, and shortcode support, **Captain Feed for YouTube** gives
you everything you need to bring your YouTube content directly to your WordPress
website.

your feed (Layout, Behaviors and Styles), YouTube Shorts, caching and reliability
settings, connecting AI assistants (MCP), API quota tracking, and White Label (Pro).

### External Services

Captain Feed for YouTube connects to the **YouTube Data API v3** provided by Google
to retrieve YouTube channel information, playlists, Shorts, search results, and
video details for display on your website.

For the **Embed Video** feed type, the plugin instead uses YouTube’s public **oEmbed
endpoint** (www.youtube.com/oembed) to retrieve just the video’s title and channel
name – no YouTube API key is sent or required for this feed type.

**Data sent to the YouTube Data API:**

 * **YouTube API Key** : Used to authenticate API requests
 * **Channel ID or @Handle** : Used to retrieve videos from a YouTube channel
 * **Playlist ID** : Used to retrieve videos from a YouTube playlist
 * **Video ID(s)** : Used to retrieve details for selected videos
 * **Search Query** : Used for search-based video feeds

**Data sent to YouTube’s oEmbed endpoint (Embed Video feed type only):**

 * **Video URL** : The single YouTube video URL entered when creating the feed

**When data is sent:**

The above information is sent to Google’s servers only when:

 * A YouTube feed is loaded on the frontend
 * A feed is previewed in the WordPress admin dashboard
 * Cached feed data expires and needs to be refreshed

**Visitor Privacy:**

Captain Feed for YouTube does not collect or transmit visitors’ personal data to
Google or YouTube. Only the YouTube content identifiers and search information required
to retrieve the configured feed are sent to the YouTube Data API.

## 常见问题

### Does this plugin require Elementor?

No. Elementor is completely optional. Captain Feed for YouTube works with any modern
WordPress theme using shortcodes. Elementor support is included for users who prefer
a drag-and-drop editing experience.

### How do I get a YouTube API Key?

Go to the **Documentation** section inside the plugin admin for a step-by-step setup
guide. A YouTube API key can be created through Google Cloud Console.

### Can I display YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Captain Feed for YouTube supports a dedicated **YouTube Shorts** feed type
for displaying short-form vertical videos in a responsive 9:16 grid layout.

### Can I display videos from a YouTube playlist?

Yes. Enter the Playlist ID when creating a Playlist feed. The plugin will fetch
and display videos from the selected public playlist.

### Can I display videos from my entire YouTube channel?

Yes. Enter your YouTube Channel ID or @handle when creating a Channel feed. The
plugin supports both formats.

### Can I display videos from multiple channels or playlists?

Yes. Create a separate feed for each channel, playlist, search query, or individual
video collection, then place the generated shortcodes anywhere on your website.

### Can I display specific YouTube videos?

Yes. Use the **Individual Video** feed type to select and display specific YouTube
videos using their video URLs or IDs.

### Can I embed a single YouTube video without an API key?

Yes. The **Embed Video** feed type lets you paste one YouTube video URL and embed
it directly – it doesn’t need a YouTube API key at all, since it uses YouTube’s
public oEmbed endpoint for the video title and channel name.

### Can I connect AI assistants like Claude to manage my feeds?

Yes, optionally. On WordPress 6.9 or newer, the plugin can register its feed management
as WordPress Abilities. With an MCP bridge plugin installed (such as Easy MCP AI
or the official WordPress MCP Adapter), AI assistants can then list, create, update,
duplicate, delete, and diagnose your feeds using natural language. This is fully
optional and each ability can be switched off individually from the plugin’s MCP
page.

### Can I display YouTube search results?

Yes. The **YouTube Search** feed lets you display videos based on a search query.

### What is the Rollback feature?

The Rollback feature lets you safely downgrade the plugin to one of the previous
available versions directly from the WordPress admin panel without manually uploading
plugin files.

### Is my visitors’ data shared with YouTube or Google?

The plugin does not collect or transmit visitors’ personal data to YouTube or Google.
The plugin sends configured public content identifiers, such as channel IDs, playlist
IDs, video IDs, or search queries, to the YouTube API to retrieve video information.

### Is the plugin beginner-friendly?

Absolutely. The plugin provides a visual feed creation interface and does not require
coding knowledge. Simply choose a feed type, enter your YouTube source, customize
the display options, and publish the feed using a shortcode.

### Does the plugin cache YouTube API responses?

Yes. The plugin uses WordPress transients to cache YouTube API responses, helping
reduce API quota usage and improve frontend performance.

### What happens when I uninstall the plugin?

The plugin includes an uninstall routine. Depending on the available cleanup settings,
you can remove stored feeds, plugin settings, and cached data when uninstalling
the plugin.

Really nice plugin for displaying YouTube feeds on WordPress sites. The setup is
simple, customization options are flexible, and it works smoothly with Elementor,
Gutenberg, Bricks, and other builders. I especially liked the YouTube Shorts support
and clean UI. Lightweight, beginner-friendly, and easy to manage overall. Great

## 更新日志

#### 1.5.0 (07/10/2026)

 * New: Gutenberg Block : The “Captain YouTube Feed” block is now available in the
block editor, letting you select and preview feeds directly with live styles
and behavior—just like the Elementor widget.
 * New: Styles Tab for Single Videos : Style controllers have now been added for
Single Videos feeds, allowing you to easily customize the background, title,
   description, image, avatar, and stats.
 * New: Responsive Typography (Pro) : Added a Responsive switcher (Desktop / Tablet/
Mobile) to customize font sizes, line heights, and letter spacings per device.
 * New: Custom Columns (Pro) : Columns now feature a “Custom” option to set up to
   12 columns per device.
 * New: Max Videos (Pro) : Max Videos now features a “Custom” option to display
   between 1 to 50 videos.
 * New: Video Tutorials Slider : Added a video tutorials slider on the Help page(
under Community & Social Channels) that loads videos only when clicked.
 * New: Documentation Guides : Added comprehensive new guides covering Feed Types,
Customization (Layout, Behaviors, Styles), Cache, Reliability, Plugin Data, and
   White Label (Pro).
 * New: Plugin Overview Video : Added a plugin overview video to the Documentation,
Quick Support widget, feed wizard, and the readme’s new YouTube tutorials section.
 * Improved: Single Videos Layout : Removed the unused Columns option and Layout&
Display card from Single Videos feeds since they don’t use columns.
 * Improved: Smart Behaviors Tab : The Behaviors tab is now automatically hidden
when there are no settings to configure (like Embed Video, Channel Profile, or
   single-video feeds).
 * Improved: Behaviors Tab Layout : The Behaviors tab now uses a cleaner two-column
layout that matches the Layout tab, with unused options automatically hiding
   to use full width.
 * Improved: White Label Page : The White Label page now displays locked previews
of all features showing what Pro unlocks, replacing the simple “Pro feature”
   message.
 * Improved: Feed Type Selection : You can now change the Feed Type directly from
the Embed Video step using the dropdown next to the Feed Name, matching all other
   feed types.
 * Improved: Default Layout : New feeds now use the Social Card layout by default.
 * Improved: Slider Arrow Controls : Arrow Vertical Offset and Arrow Horizontal
Offset now feature side-by-side sliders with number inputs for easier adjustment.
 * Improved: Frontend Accessibility : Sliders are now announced as carousels, buttons
and dots feature translatable labels, auto-slide respects “reduce motion” preferences,
keyboard focus is visible, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
 * Improved: Frontend Performance : Feeds no longer load Google Fonts externally
to enhance privacy, the Elementor widget now only loads necessary CSS, and unused
slider and layout files have been cleaned up.
 * Fix: Dark Mode API Key Styling : Fixed the YouTube API Key field background and
readability of the “API key is valid” message in dark mode.
 * Fix: Minor bug fixes and overall improvements for better stability and performance.

#### 1.4.3 (04/10/2026)

 * New: Equal Card Height : A new “Card Alignment” option on the Behaviors tab (
on by default) keeps every card in a row the same height for Style 1, Style 2
and the Social Card style – a video with a two-line title no longer pushes its
channel name and stats out of line with its neighbours, and the bottom row now
sticks to the bottom edge of each card.
 * New: Custom Color Picker : All color controls in the Styles tab (backgrounds,
borders, shadows, title, description, stats, Playlist) now use a built-in color
picker with a color area, hue and opacity sliders, and HEX / % inputs, instead
of the browser’s default color box.
 * New: Video Play Mode for the Playlist layout : The Playlist layout now supports
all three play modes – play in the big player on the left (default), open in
a popup lightbox, or open on YouTube.
 * Improved: The Playlist layout now hides settings that don’t apply to it – Columns,
Show Description, and Pagination – and Video Order is hidden for Playlist and
Single Videos feeds, where YouTube ignores it.
 * Improved: Load Behavior now shows a clear warning when Load More / Infinity Load
can’t appear because “Initial Videos” is not lower than “Max Videos”.
 * Improved: The info (i) icons in Card Display Options and Thumbnail now open the
same tooltip used across the plugin, instead of the slow browser default.
 * Improved: Video Filters card – fixed uneven spacing between its fields, and its
expand/collapse arrow now sits on the right like every other card.
 * Improved: The collapsed sidebar menu now keeps the logo and menu icons properly
   centered.
 * Fix: Load More and Infinity Load did not work on the Playlist layout – the button
never appeared, videos loaded afterwards were missing their list number, and
Infinity Load never triggered while scrolling the list.
 * Fix: Playlist video titles, channel names and stats were underlined on some themes.
 * Fix: Changing the Feed Type after picking a design (for example Playlist to Shorts)
carried the old design through the wizard – Step 2 showed nothing selected and
Step 3 previewed the wrong design. Each Feed Type now starts from its own default
   design.
 * Fix: Minor bug fixes and overall improvements for better stability and performance.

#### 1.4.2 (20/09/2026)

 * New: Live Preview : Added a “Live Preview” option on the Settings step of the
feed wizard, opening a full-screen preview of your feed with a Desktop / Tablet/
   Mobile device switcher.
 * New: Slider Style 3 – Carousel : Added a third Slider style – a counter (“01 /
05”) and prev/next arrows in a toolbar above the cards, with a scroll-progress
bar below instead of dots. Available for Grid, Shorts, and Reel feeds.
 * New: Slider Style 2 – Spotlight is now also available for Shorts feeds (previously
Grid/Reel only), alongside the existing Style 1 – Equal Cards.
 * New: “Short Style 2” (Pro) : The Shorts social-card design (avatar + handle,
likes/comments row) is now a Captain Feed for YouTube Pro feature. Free accounts
   can still preview it in Select Layout but selecting it opens an upgrade prompt;
feeds already using it automatically fall back to Short Style 1 if Pro isn’t
   active.
 * New: Thumbnail Quality (Pro) : Feeds now use the sharpest thumbnail YouTube provides
for each video by default (Full HD when available, instead of capping at 480p).
A new Pro “Thumbnail Quality” setting lets you pin a specific tier (Full HD,
Standard, or Medium to save page weight).
 * New: Insert Code step redesigned : A “Feed Diagnostic & Cache Status” panel (
connection health, configured video count, cache lifetime, last sync) and a “
Multi-Platform Embedding Hub” with quick-start cards for the WordPress Block
   Editor, Elementor, and PHP/theme templates.
 * New: A ready-to-use PHP function snippet – with a “cannot redeclare function”
safety check built in – for pasting a feed directly into a child theme’s functions.
php, as an alternative to the shortcode.
 * Improved: Renamed the Shorts card designs “Shorts Style” and “Carousel Style”
to “Short Style 1” and “Short Style 2” for consistency with the other Slider
   style names.
 * Improved: The Columns setting (Settings step) is now available for Shorts feeds
using a Slider style – it was hidden entirely before, so there was no way to
control how many Shorts cards show per view.
 * Fix: A feed using any Slider style could show far fewer videos than its “Max
Videos” setting (e.g. only 6 videos even with Max Videos set to 12) – Load More’s“
Initial Videos” batch size was silently capping the API fetch even though sliders
have no Load More button to fetch the rest.
 * Fix: “Load More” on a Shorts feed using “Short Style 2” rendered additional videos
with the wrong card design’s markup, breaking the layout – it now always matches
   the feed’s actual selected design.
 * Fix: Live Preview modal – removed the “ESC” hint badge from the sidebar button
and added spacing below the video grid so it no longer touches the bottom edge.
 * Fix: Minor bug fixes and overall improvements for better stability and performance.

#### 1.4.1 (17/09/2026)

 * New: Infinity Load (Pro) : Added a new “Infinity Load” pagination option that
automatically loads the next batch of videos as the visitor scrolls, instead
of requiring a manual “Load More” click. Available on Captain Feed for YouTube
   Pro.
 * Fix: Minor bug fixes and overall improvements for better stability and performance.

#### 1.4.0 (11/09/2026)

 * New: Added a “Social Card” layout style – a card design showing the video engagement
stats (views, likes, comments) alongside the thumbnail.
 * Improved: Full RTL (right-to-left) language support – plugin styles now correctly
switch to their RTL version on every admin page, not just the Dashboard.
 * Fix: Resolved a YouTube API issue where view counts were displaying incorrectly
or randomly instead of fetching accurate stats.
 * Fix: Fixed a display issue where the loading spinner overlapped the “Saving…”
text on the Select Layout buttons.
 * Fix: Minor bug fixes and overall improvements for better stability and performance.

#### 1.3.0 (07/09/2026)

 * New: Embed Video Feed Type : Added a Dedicated “Embed Video” feed type that lets
you embed a single YouTube video URL directly without requiring a YouTube API
   key.
 * New: oEmbed Integration : Automatically fetches the video title and channel name(
optional and toggleable) using YouTube’s free oEmbed endpoint.
 * New: MCP Page : Added a sidebar MCP page powered by WordPress 6.9 Abilities API
for managing YouTube feeds via AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT.
 * New: Shorts Slider Mode : Added a horizontal slider display mode with arrow navigation
   for Shorts feeds.
 * New: Shorts Grid Scroll : Added a Grid Scroll option for Shorts feeds to keep
all cards in a single horizontal scrollable row without wrapping.
 * New: Quick Support : Added a floating Panel providing direct access to free support
tickets, changelog updates (“What’s New?”), Facebook community discussions, a
feature request and bug reporting system, and a directory of other free Captain
   plugins.
 * Improved: Shorts Preview : Updated the Shorts layout preview in the Create Feed
wizard to display 6 smaller cards instead of 3 oversized ones, matching the live
   site appearance.
 * Fix: Minor bug fixes and overall improvements for better stability and performance.

#### 1.2.7 (26/08/2026)

 * Added: Initial Videos: Now allows separate values to be set for mobile and tablet
   devices for better performance.
 * Added: Videos Per Click: Now allows separate values to be set for mobile and
   tablet devices for better performance.
 * Fix : Minor Bug Fixes & Performance Improvements

#### 1.2.6 (15/08/2026)

 * New: Channel Profile’s avatar now supports a Round, Square, or (Pro only) Custom
shape – Custom adds a 0–100% corner-radius slider so you can fine-tune it exactly.
 * New: “Show Channel Name”, “Show Title”, and “Show Description” toggles (Step
4 Settings Card Display Options) – hide any of the three from every card style
   and from Single Video, independently.
 * Improved: Step 2 and Step 3 of the wizard are now labelled “Select Layout” and“
   Layout Mode” for clarity.
 * Improved: The wizard’s step progress bar now stays visible (sticky) while scrolling
a long step like Settings, instead of scrolling out of view.
 * Improved: Columns and Max Videos chips in Settings no longer squish into thin
   slivers on narrower screens.
 * Improved: Removed the blue accent border on the Layout filter bar.
 * Improved: Pro purchase links across the dashboard (top banner, Upgrade Now pricing
table, White Label upsell) now each carry their own tracking tag, and White Label’s
link – which was pointing at the wrong URL – now points at the right one.
 * Fix: Video titles, descriptions, and channel names with an apostrophe, quote,
or ampersand no longer show raw HTML codes like " or & – they now display the
real character, on both the wizard preview and the live site.

#### 1.2.5 (13/08/2026)

 * New: “Upgrade Now” page – a Free vs Pro feature comparison table, shown in the
dashboard sidebar until Captain Feed for YouTube Pro is active.
 * New: White Label integration point – with Captain Feed for YouTube Pro active,
rename the plugin, set custom light/dark menu icons, hide individual sidebar
menu items, and hide the plugin from the Plugins list.
 * New: “White Label” item added under Extra Options in the dashboard sidebar (shown
with a PRO badge when the Pro add-on isn’t active yet).
 * New: Channel Profile feed type now has a working Mode step – pick Light or Dark
for the profile card, previewed live in the wizard and matched on the front end.
 * New: Channel Profile feed type now has its own Settings step – toggle the subscriber
count, video count, view count, and Subscribe button on or off, and choose a
   round or square avatar.
 * New: An “Upgrade Now” link in the native WordPress admin sidebar, right under
the plugin’s menu – hidden automatically once Pro is active.
 * New: A Pro upsell banner on the Documentation, Settings, Help, Roll Back, and
Our Products pages – hidden automatically once Pro is active.
 * Improved: Menu Visibility in White Label is now a proper multi-select with removable
chips instead of a checkbox grid.
 * Improved: The Upgrade Now comparison table now also lists Video Play Mode.
 * Fix: Channel Profile avatar and banner images no longer break on some hosts –
YouTube’s CDN was rejecting the request over the referrer header on certain setups.
 * Fix: Channel Profile’s cached channel data now uses the same cache-key format
as every other feed type, so the per-feed “Clear Cache” button actually clears
it too – it silently didn’t before.
 * Fix: The Channel Profile preview in the wizard could get stuck on “Loading your
channel details…” forever, even after the data had already loaded successfully.

#### 1.2.4 (09/08/2026)

 * New: Video Filters (Step 4 Video Filters) – hide irrelevant videos by keyword
include/exclude, minimum duration, or minimum view count, with chip-based suggestions
pulled from your channel’s own fetched video titles and thumbnails.
 * New: Our Products page can now install and activate our other plugins (Captain
Widgets Kit, Captain Social Review, Captain Advance Filter) directly from the
dashboard – no need to leave WordPress admin.
 * New: Captain Advance Filter added to the Our Products page.
 * New: Contextual “How to find?” help links and info boxes for Channel ID, Playlist
ID, and Video IDs, matched to the selected feed type.
 * Improved: All Step 1 help links now open the plugin’s own internal documentation
instead of external Google support pages.
 * Improved: Feed Name and Feed Type now sit side-by-side in Step 1 for a more compact
   layout.
 * Improved: “Video Order” moved from Step 1 to Step 4, alongside the other display
   settings.
 * Improved: The wizard step is now saved in the URL, so reloading the Edit Feed
page keeps you on the same step instead of resetting.
 * Improved: Our Products cards redesigned – logo and name together, a single clear
primary action per plugin, and no more duplicate “Active” indicator.
 * Fix: “Please enter an API key first” shown on Test Key even with a valid key
entered – the underlying cause was a malformed comment in the server-side request
handler that silently prevented the API key from ever being read. The key is
   now always read correctly.
 * Fix: Test Key error status no longer gets stuck after switching Feed Type.
 * Fix: Test Key button no longer overflows its row on narrow screens.
 * Fix: Single Videos feed type – Step 2 no longer defaults to the wrong layout,
multi-video lookups no longer break due to encoding, and entering a Channel ID
by mistake now shows a clear error instead of silently returning no videos.
 * Fix: Step 2 live preview no longer gets stuck showing a permanent error after
the Channel/Video IDs field is corrected.
 * Fix: Elementor editor now shows full styling immediately when the widget is dropped
onto the canvas, instead of only after a page reload.
 * Fix: Removed a duplicate, uncached YouTube API request firing on every feed load–
cuts YouTube API quota usage roughly in half on cache misses.
 * Fix: Double-border rendering on the Video Filters multi-select fields, including
   in dark mode.
 * Fix: Video Filters suggestions now correctly exclude already-selected videos
and handle titles with commas or non-English characters.
 * Fix: A fatal JS error that could crash the Edit Feed screen entirely.
 * Fix: New feed preview no longer requires a manual page reload to appear.
 * Fix: Style and color changes are now debounced and saved in order, so a slower
save request can no longer overwrite a newer one.
 * Internal: Updated react-router-dom to fix a moderate-severity dependency vulnerability(
   open redirect). No user-facing change.
 * Internal: Full WordPress-Extra (PHPCS) coding-standards pass across all PHP files–
   zero errors, zero warnings.
 * Internal: Hardened two YouTube API request builders that were missing URL-encoding
on the channel/token values – brought in line with the rest of the codebase,
   which already encoded these correctly.
 * Internal: Manual role-based security review (Administrator/Editor/Author/Contributor/
Subscriber) of every AJAX endpoint, capability check, and data-sanitization path–
   no access-control issues found.
 * Renamed: Wizard steps renamed for clarity – “Select Layout” “Layout”, “Select
Style” “Mode”, “Set up Widget” “Settings” (Connect Channel and Insert Code
   unchanged).
 * Renamed: Sidebar menu item “Create Feeds” “Create Feed”, and the dashboard’s“
Create New Feed” buttons “Create Feed”, to match.
 * Simplified: Removed the “Feed Type” and “Layout / Style” override dropdowns from
the Elementor and Gutenberg widgets – both now only expose the YouTube Feed selector.
A more complete per-widget override design is planned for a future release.
 * Fix: Unified the wizard’s “Next” buttons and the “Your feed is ready!” banner
to use the app’s single brand blue (matching the step-progress indicator) – they
were previously a slightly different, inconsistent blue.
 * Fix: Fixed a flexbox sizing bug where the dashboard’s main content panel could
overflow past the browser viewport at narrower widths (e.g. tablet), showing
a stray dark block and a horizontal scrollbar.
 * New: Added a “Feed Details” card to the bottom of Step 5 (Insert Code) – shows
Feed ID, Feed Type, and Last Modified, plus a “Clear This Feed Cache” button
   scoped to just that feed.
 * Improved: Reordered Step 4 settings – “Pagination Type” moved up (higher priority),“
Video Filters” moved down to just below “Video Play Mode” (lower priority).
 * Improved: Documentation now opens directly to the “How to Use” guide instead
of an index page – the guide sidebar is always visible, so the extra landing
page and its “ All Guides” back-link were removed.
 * Improved: Removed the icons from the Documentation guide list – text-only for
   a cleaner look.
 * Fix: The Shortcode column on the dashboard’s feed list no longer truncates to
a fixed width – the full shortcode is now visible.
 * New: Added a “Last Modified” column to the dashboard’s feed list.
 * Fix: Anchored the mobile slide-in sidebar to both the top and bottom of the viewport(
instead of a calculated height) so nothing from WP’s own admin menu can show
past its bottom edge on shorter screens.
 * Fix: The “+ Create Feed” button on mobile no longer stretches full-width – it
   keeps its normal size.
 * Fix: Removed a rule that hid the sidebar logo/title on mobile.
 * Improved: Replaced the dashboard’s “Last Modified” column with an ⓘ info icon
in the Actions column (shown as a tooltip) – frees up space so long feed names
   no longer get cramped.
 * Fix: The Last Modified tooltip now opens on click/tap (not just hover) and is
no longer clipped by the table’s rounded-corner overflow.
 * New: Added a “Channel Profile” feed type – a single card with the channel’s banner,
avatar, name, subscriber/video/view counts, and a Subscribe button. One style
for now; more coming in a future release.

#### 1.2.3 (26/07/2026)

 * Fix: Duplicate “Documentation” heading removed from the Documentation hub page.
 * New: YouTube Shorts guide added to Documentation – explains how to set up a Shorts
feed using a Channel Handle or Channel ID.
 * New: “How to Use” guide added to Documentation – explains displaying a feed via
Shortcode, the Elementor widget, or the Gutenberg block.
 * Fix: “Auto Slide” / “Infinite Loop” labels under Slider Options were invisible
in dark mode due to a missing text color.
 * Fix: Pagination Type dropdown arrow icon was missing in dark mode.
 * Fix: Added spacing between “ All Guides” and the guide-type badge on documentation
   pages.
 * New: Collapsible sidebar menu – collapse it to an icon-only rail from the toggle
next to the logo, with your preference remembered next time.

#### 1.2.2 (05/07/2026)

 * New: Hamburger menu for mobile screens (≤782px) – sidebar slides in from left
with overlay backdrop, closes when a menu item is clicked or overlay is tapped.

sidebar footer, preference saved to localStorage.
 * New: Admin dashboard sidebar is now position:fixed – stays visible while page
   content scrolls.

Google API with specific error messages (quota exceeded, invalid key, IP restrictions,

   white in dark mode).

   on open.
 * New: Play Inline on Page – third Video Play Mode option (in addition to Open
on YouTube and Play in Popup Lightbox).
 * New: Inline video play/pause toggle – play icon becomes pause icon while video
plays; clicking stops video; only one video plays at a time across all card styles.
 * Improvement: Elementor widget JS moved to separate external file (captfyt-elementor-
widget.js) – no inline JS in PHP.
 * Improvement: All layout CSS now loads correctly in Elementor preview iframe and
   Gutenberg editor backend.
 * Improvement: Central FEED_TYPE_ALLOWED_CATEGORIES config – Shorts feed shows
only Shorts layouts; Single Videos hides Slider and Playlist layouts.
 * Improvement: Max Videos default changed to 6. Slider layout hides Row Gap, Pagination,
and Initial Videos (not applicable to sliders).
 * Improvement: 277+ hardcoded hex colors replaced with CSS custom properties across
all SCSS files – full dark/light mode theming.
 * Improvement: Separate –captfyt-bg-card variable for table/card surfaces – dark
   mode table background fixed.
 * Improvement: Select dropdowns and number inputs (Column Gap, Row Gap, Pagination)
display correctly in dark mode – WordPress .wp-core-ui specificity override applied.
 * Improvement: Create Feed type cards replaced with clean currentColor line icons–
auto-adapts to dark/light theme; old multi-color stock SVGs removed.
 * Improvement: Style 6 Playlist – clicking active side-list item now acts as pause/
stop toggle; pause icon shown on currently playing item.

   video is playing inline.

 * Fix: Style 6 Playlist side-list – stop now properly restores original thumbnail
   and resets list-item state.
 * Fix: Slider nav arrows vertical centering fixed (double CSS offset bug).
 * Fix: New feed preview videos now load without requiring a page reload – preview-
   fetch race condition fixed.
 * Fix: Continue button text color in dark mode (was inheriting dark background
   color, now always white).
 * Fix: Slider Infinite Loop – manual Prev/Next arrows now respect the infinite
loop setting (previously only auto-slide looped).
