This plugin uses Gravatar, an avatar service provided by Automattic, to display profile images for chat participants through WordPress’s get_avatar_url() function.
When a chat avatar is displayed, WordPress generates a Gravatar image URL based on a hash of the user’s email address. The visitor’s browser then requests that image from Gravatar. The request can include the email hash, requested avatar size/default parameters, and standard connection metadata such as the visitor’s IP address and user agent, as described in the provider’s privacy policy. This occurs when chat messages with avatars are displayed or loaded through AJAX.
