I develop web sites on private servers, then export them to the web. I needed this plugin to create a directory and file from within WordPress in order to set the user and group on the file system to what WordPress expects on my installation, “http”.
I couldn’t do this outside of WordPress because “http” is a special user and group that I could not access or change from the administration console of the server. The FileManager plugin allowed me to create the directory and file, which I then edit with WinSCP. WinSCP throws an error when I edit the file, but it still works and I’m able to move forward.

Что это за файловый менеджер такой у которого нет доступа к корневой папке сайта?! Есть доступ только к одной папке wp-admin и все. Это очень плохо!

WP-FileManager is really a great plugin, so usefull !
Still works perfectly with WP 4.3… hope it’s going to last a lot.
